Uttar Pradesh Police on Sunday killed notorious criminal Fatty alias Asad in an encounter in Mathura. Asad has a bounty of one lakh rupees on his head. However, two of his accomplices managed to escape and the police are conducting combing operations in the city and nearby rural areas to capture them.

Asad was from the Hapur district. He was also involved in the murder of Indian cricketer Suresh Raina’s uncle, aunt and their son during a robbery in Pathankot in 2020, as per Jagran.com.

SSP Shailesh Kumar Pandey, reported that the police team received information from an informant that some criminals had come to Mathura on Saturday night with intentions of committing a crime. The leader of the Chhammar gang, Fatty alias Asad, was spotted in Krishna Kunj Colony on the highway, along with two accomplices. Following this, SSP led the highway police in surrounding the criminals.

In the early hours of Sunday, a gunfight broke out near a house, and Asad was injured in the shootout. He was taken to the hospital but doctors declared him dead. His two accomplices managed to escape. Police teams are searching the city and rural areas to capture them. Asad was originally from Garh Mukteshwar in the Hapur district. He had over thirty criminal cases registered against him, including robbery, dacoity and murder. He was also wanted in several cases in Mathura.

Asad had 18 cases registered against him in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jammu Kashmir. On August 19, 2020, his gang was involved in the murder of Indian cricketer Suresh Raina’s uncle Ashok Kumar, aunt Asha Devi and their son Kaushal Kumar. The main accused had been absconding since then. In 2023, the Muzaffarpur police shot dead his accomplice, Rashid, in an encounter.
