The Uttar Pradesh Education Department has directed all secondary schools in the state to organise regular career counselling sessions aimed at ensuring the holistic development of students.
The initiative seeks to provide students with clear career guidance, reduce confusion about future goals, and enhance confidence and preparedness for life beyond academics.

According to the Secondary Education Department, schools will now host interactive counselling sessions with experts and professional counsellors, either in person or online. These sessions will offer insights into competitive examinations, career opportunities, vocational and technical education, and skill development programmes.
Additional Chief Secretary Parth Sarathi Sen Sharma emphasised that education must extend beyond textbooks to include confidence-building, decision-making, and future readiness. He instructed all district education officers to make career counselling a permanent feature in school calendars.
Officials believe that this move will help students make informed choices aligned with their interests and abilities, improve their performance in competitive exams, and foster self-reliance and professional success.
