UP Weather: Intense cold and dense fog have disrupted normal life in several parts of Uttar Pradesh. In many districts, the maximum temperature has dropped by four degrees. The minimum temperature has dropped by 10 degrees. According to IMD, these cold wave conditions would persist in the state for at least the next 48 hours.

Cold wave conditions are expected in several districts in the next three days. According to the weather department, there is a possibility of light rain and hailstorms in some districts till January 11.

Places like Lucknow, Unnao, Barabanki, Gonda and Hamirpur had overcast skies with low visibility due to dense fog. Winter holidays have also been declared in schools due to the cold conditions. Traffic has also been affected due to low visibility. Flight services were affected in Lucknow and Varanasi due to fog.

Trains were also running late, up to eight hours from their scheduled time.

Weather in Prayagraj And Varanasi

Prayagraj is all set to host Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 from next week. Devotees visiting the mela would also go to Varanasi to offer prayers in Kashi Vishwanath. In such a situation, it has been advised to keep an eye on the weather alerts.

Both the cities saw some relief due to a change in the direction of the wind due to western disturbance and the arrival of light clouds with fog, however, by the evening the chills once again occupied the atmosphere.

According to meteorologists, the weather cycle is witnessing changes due to active western disturbances one after the other. Currently, Jammu-Kashmir and Himachal is under the influence of a western disturbance. As a result, snowfall and rains are persisting there. The chills have become severe due to the formation of cold jet streams in the plains.

Such a situation may last for the next 45 days.
