UP Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday stated that several districts of Uttar Pradesh are likely to receive light to heavy rainfall till July 20. While providing details, the weather department stated that while 11 districts are expected to receive heavy rainfall along with thunderstorms and gusty winds, the other districts are likely to witness light to moderate rainfall. The rainfall is likely to provide relief from the scorching heat by reducing the temperature by two to four degrees Celsius. The weather department further advised the residents to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
While providing details, the IMD stated that several districts of Vindhya and Bundelkhand, including Banda, Chitrakoot, Lalitpur, and Jhansi, are likely to receive heavy rainfall on July 17. Apart from this, light to moderate rain is expected in 19 other districts. The weather department has also released warnings of thunderstorms and lightning for 58 districts of the state. It informed that while Lucknow received light rain on Wednesday, several other districts, including Varanasi, Sultanpur, and Prayagraj, received heavy rainfall.
The continuous rainfall has provided relief from the heat by reducing the temperature; however, it also led to other issues such as waterlogging and power outages in several areas. Senior meteorologist Atul Kumar Singh stated that heavy rain is expected in many districts of southern UP, including Vindhya and Bundelkhand, on Thursday. However, he added that the western region of the state has received about 41 percent less rainfall than normal in July till now, reported Jagran.Com.
However, the IMD stated that there will be a surge in rainfall in the upcoming few days. It emphasised that the central and eastern regions of the state are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall. The weather department further stated that several districts, including Banda, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Fatehpur, Sonbhadra, Mirzapur, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Jhansi, and Lalitpur, are expected to witness rainfall on July 17.
