The Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) is set to roll out a special two-month campaign from tomorrow to strengthen the power supply system and improve revenue collection across the state.
On the instructions of Chairman Ashish Goyal, Executive Engineers in every district division have been tasked with setting ideal models in their areas. Under the initiative, specific zones have been identified where electricity supply and revenue mechanisms will be completely streamlined to create model success stories.
Zone-Two Chief Engineer Naresh Bharti said the drive will focus on multiple key measures, including 100 per cent prevention of power theft, feeder-level energy audits through meters, installation of smart meters, and shifting meters outside homes. Substations with 12,000-14,000 consumers each have been selected for the campaign.
Revenue collection will also be prioritised with a door-to-door drive to recover pending bills. Consumers requiring new connections will be provided services on the spot. To check theft, joint vigilance and meter department teams will conduct raids during morning and night hours.
The campaign mandates that defaulters be served with demand notices, failing which their connections will be disconnected. Daily reviews will be carried out by the Chief Engineer, while a weekly review will be conducted by UPPCL headquarters in Lucknow.
Officials stated that the initiative aims to demonstrate how effective steps can improve electricity supply, strengthen revenue collection, and enhance consumer services.
