Uttar Pradesh Crime: A woman allegedly attempted suicide inside a police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Sitapur after her nephew ended their relationship, police said on Sunday.

The woman, identified as Pooja Mishra, hails from Delhi and is married to Lalit Kumar Mishra. She is the mother of two sons aged six and seven. According to police sources cited by a NDTV report, Pooja developed a romantic relationship with her husband’s nephew, Alok Mishra, who is 15 years younger than her.

Alok had been staying with the family to assist with work when the relationship began. After learning about the affair, Lalit sent Alok away, but Pooja later left her children and moved to Bareilly, where the two reportedly lived together for nearly seven months.

A dispute between them eventually led Alok to return to his native village in Sitapur. Pooja soon followed him there and both were called to the local police station to resolve their differences.

During the meeting, when Alok said he no longer wished to continue the relationship, Pooja allegedly took out a blade and slit her wrist inside the station.

She was rushed to a nearby hospital and later referred to Lucknow in critical condition. Police said further investigation is underway.

In separate news, a violent clash over an alleged extramarital affair in central Delhi’s Ram Nagar left two people dead. Police said Aashu alias Shailendra, 34, stabbed 22-year-old Shalini, his pregnant lover, after she chose to stay with her husband, Akash.

When Akash tried to protect his wife, he was also attacked but managed to overpower Aashu and stab him to death. Both Shalini and Aashu were declared dead at the hospital, while Akash remains critical.

Police said Aashu claimed Shalini was pregnant with his child, which led to the attack. A case of murder and attempted murder has been registered based on Shalini’s mother’s statement.
