UP Encounters Under 'Operation Langda': The Uttar Pradesh Police has intensified its crackdown against criminals across the state. A series of encounters have led to the arrest of several history-sheeters and wanted criminals in Lucknow, Ghaziabad, Agra, Baghpat, Firozabad, Jalaun, Ballia, Hapur and Unnao. Over 14 criminals have been arrested by the UP Police in a span of the last 24 hours. In most of the 11 encounters carried out on Tuesday under 'Operation Langda', the police opened fire in response to being attacked. Illegal weapons and stolen goods were also recovered from the accused.

Lucknow: Accused In Minor Girl's Rape Case Arrested After Encounter

Kamal Kishore alias Bhaddar, accused in the rape of a minor girl was injured in an encounter with the Lucknow police in the wee hours of Wednesday. He had committed the crime on May 27, and at around 3:00 am (Wednesday, May 28), the accused was arrested after a brief encounter with the police. The accused opened fire when the police team tried to catch him. In retaliation, he was shot in the leg. A motorcycle, a country-made pistol and a live cartridge were recovered from him. The accused has been sent to the trauma centre for treatment.

Ghaziabad: History-Sheeter Held in Constable Murder Case

Abdul Rehman, a history-sheeter wanted in the murder of 26-year-old Noida Police constable, Saurabh Kumar, was arrested following an encounter in the Dasna-Mussoorie area. Police signalled a bike to stop at Mussoorie Lake Tiraha, however, the rider opened fire and tried to flee but slipped during the chase. He was shot in the leg in retaliatory fire and was admitted to the district hospital. Police said he has over 18 criminal cases against him. A .315 bore pistol, a live cartridge, an empty shell and a motorcycle were recovered from him. ACP Lipi Nagaich said the search for other suspects in the case is ongoing.

Ghaziabad: Robbery Accused Caught in Vijaynagar

Another criminal was arrested in Ghaziabad’s Vijaynagar area after he fired at the police during a chase. The accused was shot in the leg and arrested on the spot. Police recovered a stolen bike, an illegal weapon, a looted mobile phone and cash from him. Officials said he was involved in several local robbery and snatching cases.

Hapur: Oil Theft Gang Members Caught

Simbhaoli police on Tuesday arrested four members of a gang involved in oil theft from parked vehicles on highways. One was injured in an encounter near the Sikheda underpass. Police recovered a pistol, cartridges, oil theft equipment and a Canter vehicle from him. CO Garhmukteshwar Varun Mishra said the criminals opened fire when police tried to stop their vehicle. The accused include Wasim (injured), Gulfam, Samanu and Hashim. All are residents of Meerut and Pilkhuwa in the Hapur district.

Firozabad: Double Murder Accused Arrested

Police in Uttar Pradesh's Firozabad district on Tuesday arrested Manish Yadav and Vipin Yadav, wanted for a double murder, after an encounter. The two accused carried a reward of Rs 20,000. When asked to stop during a check, they opened fire at the police. Both were injured in the exchange and later arrested. Two pistols and cartridges were recovered from the two accused. They were wanted for the murder of a father and son two days earlier.

Ballia: Two Arrested in Separate Encounters

Two criminals were arrested in Ballia during separate encounters within an hour on Tuesday night. Ravi Prakash Pandey, accused in the Bedua firing case, was shot in the leg near Jagannath Tiraha. Within two hours, Mukesh Kumar Singh, accused in the firing case involving businessman Arun Gupta, was arrested by the police at Maldepur Tiraha after an encounter. Both tried to escape during vehicle checks and opened fire at the police officers. Illegal pistols were recovered from both accused.

Jalaun: Jewellery Robbery Accused Arrested

Two men involved in a jewellery shop robbery in Jalaun's Konch were arrested after an encounter with the police. Ajay alias Golu Kushwaha was shot in the leg, while the second accused, Ramu, surrendered before the police. Two pistols, cartridges and stolen cash were recovered from the accused. Five of the six accused in the jewellery shop robbery case have now been arrested.

Unnao: One Held After Encounter

Police in Unnao on Tuesday night arrested Sanjay alias Teni after an encounter on Kedarkheda-Dewara Road. The suspect fired at police during a vehicle check. He was shot in the leg and taken to the district hospital. Sanjay is one of four accused in a recent firing incident involving an attack on a youth. One suspect had already been caught by locals. Two bikes and weapons were recovered from him, and the search for the two other accused, Nahar and Jitendra, in the case is still underway.

Agra: Theft Accused Arrested After He Fires at Police

Suraj, accused of multiple thefts in the Dauki area of Agra, was arrested after an encounter with the Agra police on Tuesday. He admitted to several theft and robbery cases during questioning. When taken to recover stolen goods, Suraj fired at the police with a hidden pistol. He was shot in the leg during the exchange and is being treated at SN Medical College. A pistol, cartridges, stolen items and a hammer were recovered from him.

Baghpat: Chain Snatchers Nabbed in Forest Area

Police in the Binauli area of Baghpat arrested two chain snatchers following an encounter in a forested area. One accused was shot in the leg, and the other was caught while trying to flee. Both are accused of multiple chain-snatching cases in the district. Police said their arrest may help solve other pending cases.

‘Operation Langda’ Continues Across State

The series of encounters is part of Uttar Pradesh Police’s ongoing “Operation Langda”, aimed at cracking down on repeat offenders. Police say the operation has helped arrest several organised crime suspects. Firearms, stolen goods and criminal records found in these cases point to the accused’s involvement in serious offences. Efforts to arrest remaining absconders are underway.
