The Yogi government is continuously taking effective steps towards providing better, accessible, and timely healthcare facilities to the poor and needy. While cashless treatment has been ensured for families receiving care under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, the system is being further strengthened by ensuring timely payments to hospitals associated with the scheme. As a result, there has been a notable improvement in the settlement of Ayushman scheme claims over the past year.
Drastic Reduction In Pending Claims: From 10.75 Lakh To 3 Lakh
Archana Verma, CEO of the State Agency for Comprehensive Health and Integrated Services (SACHIS), stated that continuous corrective measures are being taken for the swift and transparent settlement of claims submitted by the state's empanelled public and private hospitals under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Where the pendency of claims had reached 1,075,000 in January 2025, it has reduced to just 300,000 by December 2025. This will also be settled soon.
She explained that on average, more than 200,000 claims are received from hospitals each month under the scheme in the state. The timely settlement of such a large number of incoming claims is a major challenge. Despite this, it is being ensured that new claims, along with old pending cases, are settled in a regular and systematic manner. The main objective of this is to ensure that empanelled hospitals provide treatment to Ayushman card holders without any delay.
Strengthening The Medical Audit System
Pooja Yadav, ACEO of SACHIS, stated that the medical audit system has been strengthened to make the claim settlement process simpler, more transparent, and faster. In line with this, the number of medical auditors has been increased from 40 to 130. This has expedited the claim verification process. Additionally, the number of Claim Processing Desks (CPD) has also been increased from 100 to 125.
The aim is to ensure payments for claims submitted by hospitals under the scheme are made within the stipulated 30-day timeframe, i.e., the Turn Around Time (TAT). To achieve this goal, regular review meetings are being held at the agency level, and pending cases are being continuously monitored.
Rs 4,649 Crore Paid To Hospitals In One Year
The CEO of SACHIS stated that during the period from January 2025 to December 2025, a total sum of ₹4,649 crore has been paid to the state's empanelled hospitals against claims under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. This figure shows that the Yogi government is not only arranging for treatment but is also fully protecting the financial interests of the hospitals, so that they can provide better health services to poor patients.
The Yogi government's policies, resulting in reduced claim pendency, timely payments, and a robust audit system, have increased the confidence of hospitals. This directly benefits poor and needy patients, who are now completely free from the compulsion of taking loans and selling property for treatment.
