Bengaluru Viral Video: Bengaluru is back in the headlines, and the reason is yet another language imposition-related incident. A video was shared on social media, where a man was seen being questioned on his preference of language. Asking him to learn Kannada, a Bengaluru localite was heard criticising the non-Kannada speaker for not learning the local language despite living and working in Karnataka for ‘12 years’. The man then went ahead and called the non-Kannada speaker ‘disrespectful’ towards local culture and language. The video was quick to go viral, which ended up getting a mixed response. The date of the incident could not be confirmed.
The Bengaluru video, after getting viral, drew major reactions. Most people dubbed the incident an example of language imposition and demanded the local man’s arrest, while some advocated for the Kannada-speaking man.
The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘ManjuKBye’. The post was captioned, “This is Good. Question the Lazy folks 12 years in Karnataka and have yet to understand and learn Kannada. That says only Two things, Zero Curiosity and willingness to learn and arrogance toward Local Culture and Language. #Kannada #Karnataka.” The video was shared yesterday and pulled more than 49K views from people.

The guy filming this needs to be arrested,” a user said. “He doesn't deserve to stay in Karnataka, kick him out of Karnataka,” added a second person. “Look at him he getting everything from Karnataka. But no Kannada,” added another.
“He knows English....enough.....stop this harassment and abuse. Jobless goons,” added another. “Seriously, what's wrong with these locals? How can someone force anybody to learn a language? If there's necessity anybody will learn any language be it Kannada, Tamil, German, Chinese for that matter,” added another.
