Social media often witnesses people recreating iconic paintings and other works of art to yield amusing results. But have you ever imagined doing the same with your furry companion? People do all kinds of fun activities with their pets and some are simply too cute to miss. A video of an owner recreating the famous 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' painting by dressing up a cat is going viral on social media. The clip instantly left several hearts in 'aww' as the feline looked adorable and posed perfectly for the clicks.
The endearing video was shared on the social media site Instagram, by a handle named 'ARTWORK DAILY'. The clip was shared with the caption, "Meowsterpiece in the making!"

The video began with a brown cat sitting patiently on a platform. The owner then started dressing up the cute feline. The dress-up started with a headband that was made of a combination of blue and yellow pieces of clothes. The owner then went on and pinned the two fabrics together. Proceeding with the next step, the viewers could see the owner putting a broad collar on the cat that resembled an upper garment. The final touch was given with a pearl earring, making the cat resemble the iconic 'Girl with a Pearl Earring'. The clip ended with the owner showing some pictures of the cat as the furry model posed in the exact manner as painted in the portrait.
The video was shared on July 08 and has garnered 154K likes so far. The clip went viral over its cuteness but also left the internet community divided. While some found the dress-up cute, some people instead called it 'animal cruelty'. The comment section was flooded with views on the same.
"One patient cat. And if he didn’t like it he would have gone for sure," a user said. "How did this cat not even moved? mine would fight to the last for her rights," said another. "What an incredible cat- to sit serenly... amazing," joined a third user. "Girl with a purrl earring," commented a fifth netizen.
Meanwhile, some netizens criticised the owner and called the dress-up a form of animal cruelty. "Poor cat," a viewer commented. "Leave cat quiet," added another netizen. "Not clever and not funny!" said a third person. "Cats are not dolls. Although she appeared not to mind, we dress animals for our entertainment, not for theirs. Please stop this," said a fourth user. "Stop dressing up dogs and cats, it’s cruel," added a fifth.
'Girl with a Pearl Earring' is a famous piece of art from 1665. The beautiful oil painting was painted by Golden Age painter Johannes Vermeer.
