Expensive Darjeeling Tea Goes Viral: If tea is your thing, and you love spending money on it, then Darjeeling might be THE place for you. Recently, a store at Mall Road in West Bengal’s Darjeeling made headlines for its exotic varieties of tea being sold for Rs 1.5 lakh per kilogram, leaving the internet buzzing. Darjeeling, already known for its commendable tea quality, further added the hype, especially among tea lovers. A video of a woman, with multiple teacups on the table, was also shared on social media, which also went viral.

The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter), by the news agency ANI. The post was captioned, “Darjeeling, a town in the foothills of the Himalayas in West Bengal, is renowned globally for its tea, offering one of India's most expensive varieties priced at Rs 1.5 lakhs per kilogram. This prized tea can be found at a store in the Mall Road area.”

The video left people divided. Half the netizens were shocked over the tea prices, and the rest recalled their own experiences about Darjeeling’s tea. Some people also called the prices ‘justified’, recalling the ‘hype’ that Darjeeling has as far as tea is concerned. The post was shared today and pulled 38K views from people.

Taking to the internet, people shared their take. “So expensive,” a user said. “The world's most expensive teabag was created by PG tips and was valued at $7500. It contained expensive Darjeeling tea leaves and was encrusted with diamonds! So not surprising that the tea is that expensive. Darjeeling tea was always the tea,” wrote a second person.

“Darjeeling tea has always been a thing and the hype is well-deserved,” added another. “This is simply too expensive. It feels like half the prices are just for the glasses and the presentation that she has put together,” added another. “I like the pretty cups and the colours of the teas,” wrote another.
