Chess World Cup: With Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa reaching the finals to play opposite Norwegian Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen, the excitement among every Indian has skyrocketed to the next level. Amid all the cheering and prayers, one particular reaction on the young prodigy's journey has won the hearts of many. Images of Praggnanandhaa’s mother, Nagalakshmi, surfaced online and left the netizens emotional with a warm heart.

The pictures were shared on social media site X (formerly Twitter), by user 'Balusu Ramakrishna’. The post was captioned, “These photographs from the #FIDEWorldCup ft. #Praggnanandhaa R and his mother Nagalakshmi are EVERYTHING #WorldChess #Championship #FIDE.”

In the pictures, Pragg’s mother was seen crying tears of joy as she watched her son engaged in an interview after a magnificent performance in the tournament. The pictures went viral as people loved Pragg’s mother's genuine reaction. Many related to her happiness, while others wished the player all the luck ahead of the final match. 

The 18-year-old will have to defeat the former five-time World Chess Champion to bag the title of World Chess Champion. The much-anticipated chess match that was scheduled for today, August 22, began at 4: 30 PM (Local Time).

Reaching the semifinals and then defeating American GM Fabiano Caruana on August 21, Praggnanandhaa made history as he became the first Indian after Viswanathan Anand to reach the semifinals of the FIDE World Cup. 

This is not the first time that the 18-year-old has left the world shocked, as he became the youngest player to defeat Carlsen in an online elite rapid chess tournament.
