The much-awaited festival of Ganesh Chaturthi will begin today, September 19, and the netizens have started taking over the internet to share their excitement in the form of posts and reactions. From unique pandal decorations to lively dancing videos around the giant statues of Ganpati Bappa, social media has become more like a festive venue full of devotees.
The 10-day festival commenced on September 19 and will be celebrated till September 28. The festival is celebrated to celebrate the birth of Lord Ganesha and is one of the most hailed Hindu festivals in the country. Also known as Ganeshotsav, Vinayaka Chavithi is celebrated in the month of ‘Bhādo’, which is calculated according to the Hindu calendar. Devotees make or bring Lord Ganesha’s idol at their homes during the auspicious festive days, and bid the Lord a farewell on the last day by immersing the idol in the sea or river. The festival is more famous in Maharashtra, where the streets are often taken over by breathtaking ‘Pandals’ during the 10-day festival.
