IPL 2024: Currently, the next best thing that is lined up to happen in the cricket world is the IPL (Indian Premier League), and the internet cannot shut about it. From ‘captain selection’ for each team to fans calculating the strength of their favourite team, there is simply too much to discuss before the tournament begins. Amid all this, the one thing that has been trending the most over the past few days is the IPL auction 2024, which was surely full of surprises. And now, a latest ‘twist’ with a ‘hilarious’ touch went viral after a team ‘accidentally’ bought the ‘wrong’ player for Rs 20 lakh. Yes, believe it or not, but Ness Wadia and Preity Zinta’s Punjab Kings bought the ‘wrong’ Shashank Singh, an uncapped Indian player, during the auction. 

However, after the entire ‘goof up’, the Punjab Kings management team released a statement, where they cleared that they always wanted to buy the same Shashank Singh, who ended up in their team. The statement read, “We always wanted Shashank Singh on our roster unlike what the media have reported. There was another Shashank Singh on the list because of which there was a slight confusion.”

However, the statement came a bit too late, as until then, social media was already flooded with related memes. 

Taking to the internet, people began to share hilarious memes on the matter. Some called their ‘open hints’ of buying the ‘wrong’ player ‘rude’, while others found it hilarious and shared jokes on the same. From pointing out Preity Zinta’s reaction to dubbing it one of the biggest ‘bloopers’, cricket and meme lovers left no opportunity untouched in sharing a variety of jokes on the entire thing. 

“Punjab Kings Bought the wrong Shashank Singh and openly said it to everyone,” a user said. 

“Shashank Singh bought by mistake!! But if he performs well!! Maybe we will call it destiny,” said a second.

“Shashank Singh when pbks bidders were discussing about wrong bid to auctioneer,” added a third.

“Unwanted shashank singh be like,” said a fourth. 

“PBKS Walo Ne Galat Shashank Singh Khareed Liya,” said a fifth.

“So Punjab wanted 19 year old Shashank Singh but mistakenly brought 32 year old Shashank Singh.....hm,” said another.
