10 Most Popular Types Of Monkeys In World: They are smart, they are playful, they ‘might’ become too ‘intelligent’ for humanity to handle, and they even have a movie about them ‘taking over’ the world. Yes, our heroes for the day for this article are the adorably mischievous monkeys. There are around 200 monkey species in the world, according to the reports, and we thought to look at the ones who got fame among humans for their ‘adorable’ looks. So we found some of the most popular types of monkeys for you. The list was compiled by ‘a-z animals’.
Here are the top 10 most popular types of monkeys in the world:
Golden Lion Tamarin
The first on the list is the adorable Golden Lion Tamarin. They are tiny and cute and share their name with the ‘Jungle King’ because of their pelage, which heavily resembles a lion’s mane.
Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey
The second most popular monkey on the list is also from the ‘golden’ family- the Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey. As the name suggests, these cuties have a distinct nose and a face that is too cute to handle.
Mandrill
The third on the list is the Mandrill monkey. These beautiful primates are popular for their colorful faces and are also taken as references in many kids’ animations.
Brown Spider Monkey
With thin limbs, the next on the list is the Brown Spider Monkey. They are endangered and are considered unique for their looks and thin tails.
Emperor Tamarin
The fifth one on the list of the most beautiful types of monkeys is the Emperor Tamarin. These monkeys have long white mustaches, which gives them a unique appearance of a ‘wise advisor’ from most ‘Disney films’.
Central American Squirrel Monkey
The next on the list might be the very definition of ‘cute’. With its tiny face and orange fur, the Central American Squirrel Monkey is in sixth position.
Proboscis Monkey
They are one of the most unique ones on the list, and all the credit goes to their nose. The Proboscis Monkey is in the seventh position on the list and they are known for a long and huge nose.
Silvery Marmoset
They are probably the tiniest and the cutest for multiple reasons. From their small size to their heavy fur, the Silvery Marmoset is on the eighth position on the list.
Dusky Leaf Monkey
The next on the list is the Dusky Leaf Monkey. If ‘classic black’ had a face, they would be it. With their dusky colour and cute appearance, they are in the ninth spot.
Chacma Baboon
The last on the list, the Chacma Baboon, has a signature monkey look- greyish fur and a dark face. They look as adorable as ever and are very popular.
