Viral Reddit Post: Family gatherings in India are never short of drama and sometimes it’s the fufa ji who ends up stealing the spotlight. Known for being a little sensitive, their reactions often become the highlight of many household stories. One such incident recently went viral after a Delhi woman shared her experience on Reddit. It all started during a Ganpati puja, where she had dressed up in a saree. Her fufa ji, in a lighthearted tone, called her an “airhostess.” Not one to stay quiet, she quickly replied with a joke of her own.
What happened next turned into full-on family theatrics. Even though the uncle later apologised, without even realising he had been offended, her bua decided to step in. She called the woman’s mother and demanded that the niece apologise instead.
The woman summed it all up in her witty post: “Wore a saree for Ganpati puja, fufaji called me airhostess. I joked back, he apologised (didn’t even realise he was offended till later). Now bua calls my mom asking me to apologise. Funny how the grown man’s pride is softer than the pallu of my saree. LOL.”

The post instantly struck a chord with Reddit users, who flooded the comments with jokes, funny takes and their own stories. "Lol got fat shamed (I’m not even overweight) by an old unknown lady today, so I asked her about her alcoholic son and my mom is yelling at me since morning," a user wrote. "This deserves a ball-by-ball detail," a second user wrote.
"Really curious what joke you cracked that got him so offended," wrote a third user. "Tell what joke was cracked on Fufaji...or this did not happen!! The nation wants to know what the joke was!!! What joke made Fufaji behave like Kattappa?" a fourth user asked. "I thought, airhostesses are good, sophisticated and tough jobs.. I didn't get what's wrong. Does girl think it's bad, so it's bad- is that the whole point?" asked another user.
"A similar thing happened with me. After college, when I started working, I rented a place, but I needed a day to stay after the accommodation provided by the employer ended. So I stayed at a relative's place. He is 2 years older than I am. I asked him what to call him, he said call me by name, I did the same. But I think his gf didn’t like it. A few days after his mother called some common relative and then he called …. Finally, my nanaji called me and said everyone is saying that he doesn’t have manners and asked me to apologise," shared another user.
