Although no animal can ever be called ugly, and dogs, above all, surely are a proud edition on the ‘cute animal list’, still, a dog recently won the ‘World's Ugliest Dog’ contest. You might find it hard to believe, but a contest pitching supposedly ‘ugly dogs’ does exist and the latest one recently declared a winner; an 8-year-old Pekingese. The furry ‘beauty’, who goes by the name Wild Thang, reportedly has been participating for 5 years to win the title, but it's only this year that the little one finally clinched the ‘crown’.
The contest was held in the USA's California, during the Sonoma-Marin Fair, as per The Guardian. Wild Thang, on the other hand, beat seven other contestants to win the ‘World's Ugliest Dog’ title. The adorable winner reportedly hails from Oregon, and suffered from a ‘case of canine distemper’, when it was just 10 weeks old, as per the official website.
The post announcing the huge win was shared on social media platform Instagram, by the handle ‘Wild Thang’. The post read, “Well, we finally did it! You're looking at the OFFICIAL WORLD's UGLIEST DOG. I want to thank you all for supporting us and having fun along the way.”

The post went viral and pulled countless reactions. Most people, despite the contest’s title saying otherwise, loved the dog and called it one of the cutest, while the rest congratulated the winner. The post was shared two days ago and pulled countless likes.
Taking to the comment section, people shared their take. “I’m happy she won but she is a BIG OL BEAUTY IN MY EYES OK! Get her a WELL DESERVED STEAK,” a user said. “Oh my gosh, for real? That is so fun and exciting! Congratulations Wild Thang!! We think you are adorable but what does the mainstream know about Pekingese? A win is a win, so yay,” added a second person.
“Congrats but as we all know Pekingese ARE THE most beautiful pups!! You’re perfect the way you are Wild Thang!!!” commented a third user. “But your tongue sticking out and your disheveled mane is what we love about you!” commented a fourth netizen. “Congratulations! But you are just adorable and cute,” added another.
