Viral Video: Mostly, it's the cat people or Husky or Golden Retriever owners, who struggle with their furry friends trying to escape their homes. However, this zoo had a different situation altogether, as here, it was a giant hippo that seemingly wanted to escape toward freedom. A video of the same was shared online, which went viral on social media. However, more than the escape, it was what the zoo’s security guard did, that made the incident intriguing. Resorting to seemingly light slaps, the guard began to slap the hippo in order to stop it. Take your time to believe that!
Even more surprising was the fact that as seen in the clip, the technique actually worked as the hippo went back to its pond. The video made some people laugh, while the rest were more concerned about the safety of the animal and the zoo visitors.
The video was shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), by the handle ‘AMAZlNGNATURE’. The post was captioned, “Security guard risking his life to save incredibly unalarmed zoo visitors from a hippo.”

The video, after getting shared, left the internet concerned. Most people pointed out that the walls of the zoo were too low which could have led to a serious accident or an attack by the hippo, while the rest found the incident surprising as the security guard was too close to the animal. The post was shared yesterday and pulled 19K views from people.
Taking to the internet, people shared their take. “If your hippo exhibit is built in such a way that humans can physically touch the hippos that's not a good exhibit,” a user said. “The zoo's condition is not good. If the hippo is uncontrolled, It can eventually kill anyone,” added a second person.
“They’re cute so people don’t realize how dangerous hippos are,” added a third person. “Smacking the animal will for sure not make it aggressive,” wrote a fourth person. “Why are the walls so short anyway??” added another. “That guest should have been sent to remedy the potential damage he could have caused,” added the next user.
