Epstein Files Scandal: Former United States President Bill Clinton and his wife, Hillary Clinton, will appear before the US House of Representatives in the Epstein investigation. They have agreed to testify in the congressional inquiry, a decision they made despite the potential for contempt proceedings if they refused.
The investigation is related to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who died in custody in 2019. Epstein was associated with prominent business people, politicians, and celebrities worldwide. The Clintons' past meetings and connections with Epstein remain a key part of this investigation.
The Clintons Will Now Testify
Clinton spokesperson Angel Urena posted on X that former President Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton would appear for the investigation. "The former president and former secretary of state will be there. They want to set a precedent that applies to everyone," he wrote.
The decision comes as the House is set to vote on a contempt resolution. Last week, the House Oversight Committee recommended contempt against the Clintons, with some Democrats supporting it. If the contempt resolution passes, they could face criminal charges.
Refused To Obey The Summons
The Clintons initially refused to comply with the subpoenas, arguing they were not valid because they lacked a clear legislative purpose. Instead, they submitted written affidavits detailing their knowledge of Epstein and his partner, Ghislaine Maxwell.
Bill Clinton admitted flying on Epstein's private jet in the 2000s for Clinton Foundation humanitarian work, but denied ever visiting Epstein's private island. Hillary Clinton stated that she had no significant interactions with Epstein, never boarded his jet, or visited the island.
