A short video of a group of dogs in China making a long journey back to their home after escaping forceful capture has gained online attention. The video is widely circulated on social platforms, triggering emotional and heart-warming reactions from netizens. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt was also among the users who got swayed by the video. Replying to a user’s post about dogs on X, she wrote, “My heart can’t handle this.”
Netizens Pour Love
The video shows seven dogs including a golden retriever, an injured German shepherd, and a brave corgi leading the way. A user shared the video on March 15, stating that they had escaped from a dog transport vehicle and were on their way back home. Netizens even found the video like the movie “Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey.” However, it has now come to light that while the clip is real, the story is not at all.

What's The Real Story?
Chinese state media dismissed the narrative of their escape and journey home. City Evening News reported, citing the owner that the story going viral on social media is not true. The owner stated that the German shepherd in the video had been in heat, which is why other dogs were drawn to it. The dogs have returned home, and the German shepherd has been kept on a leash until the heat cycle ends.

The reason behind massive views on this video is attributed to people's love toward animals or other creatures. Earlier in February, Punch, a baby Japanese macaque at the Ichikawa City Zoo in Japan went viral after he was seen comforting a stuffed toy out of loneliness.
