Mercedes-Benz is creating quite a buzz with its latest offering, the AMG GT63 S E Performance Coupe. This model is a plug-in hybrid version of the AMG four-seater super coupe, adding to Mercedes-AMG's lineup of powerful PHEVs. It is the sixth PHEV from Mercedes-AMG and boasts impressive power and performance.

One of the standout features of the AMG GT63 S E Performance Coupe is its speed. It's claimed to be the fastest Mercedes-Benz car ever, capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds. It boasts a power output of 803 bhp and 1,420 Nm of torque. Additionally, it offers a pure electric range of 14 kilometres.

Talking about its powertrain, it will be powered by the same engine used in the top-spec SL roadster, a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 high-performance internal combustion engine paired with a rear-mounted electric motor. The hybrid system is optimised for high charge and discharge rates, featuring a powerful 6.1 kWh battery pack that can deliver up to 201 bhp peak power. Despite its smaller size compared to other popular EV batteries, this system can absorb power twice as fast as the Chevrolet Bolt EV can charge from a plug.

Mercedes-AMG has carefully considered factors like power density, energy density, battery cycle life and cost to create an efficient electrified propulsion system for the AMG GT63 S E Performance Coupe.

This luxury car is currently available in India as a four-door version priced at Rs 3.3 crore (ex-showroom). With the plug-in hybrid variant hitting the market, Mercedes-AMG is looking to capture a larger share of the Indian luxury car market. So, it's likely that the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance Coupe will also make its way to India soon.
