The Bihar government will soon conduct a joint e-auction for the Majos and Bhanta magnetite blocks in Jamui district, allotted to the state by the Central Government. The decision was taken following the Tender Approval Committee’s (TAC) recommendation to combine both mineral blocks under Phase 2 of the auction process.

The combined reserve price for the two blocks has been fixed at Rs 4,325.76 crore. Earlier, the Majos block had an estimated reserve value of Rs 3,817.60 crore, while the Bhanta block was valued at Rs 511.91 crore. Both blocks, along with a limestone block in Bhora-Katora, Rohtas (Rs 1,761.42 crore reserve value), were allotted to Bihar as major mineral resources by the Centre.

In the first auction attempt, the limestone block in Rohtas was successfully allotted. However, the Majos and Bhanta magnetite blocks failed to secure the required minimum of three technically qualified bidders, leading to the cancellation of the process.

During the second attempt, the state decided to merge the Majos and Bhanta blocks due to their location in the same district and similar mineral composition. The TAC later approved the integrated auction plan.
