The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has officially initiated the tender process for the development of an airport in Muzaffarpur, marking a significant step towards bringing air travel to the Tirhut region. The move, confirmed by Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, is expected to boost the regional economy and ease travel for millions of residents.

The tender process, which began today, outlines the initial phase of construction at the Patahi Airport site.
Tender Availability: Documents can be downloaded starting Saturday, October 4, 2025.
Pre-Bid Meeting: A meeting to clarify details will be held in Delhi on October 27, 2025.
Submission Deadline: The final day for submitting bids is November 17, 2025.
Bid Opening: Bids will be opened in two stages on November 21 and December 5, 2025.
The initial construction plan includes:
- A runway 1,050 metres long and 30 metres wide.
- An apron with parking capacity for two aircraft.
- A 1,250-square-metre terminal building made of a pre-fabricated steel structure.
While the current land is sufficient for operating small aircraft, officials have noted that a larger master plan for bigger aircraft will require additional land acquisition in the future.
