Electric vehicles (EVs) are rapidly gaining popularity in Bihar, with 23,096 registrations in FY 2024-25. This includes 22,133 two-wheelers and 963 four-wheelers, which shows that electric vehicles are no longer just an option, but have become the choice of the general public. Patna has emerged as a leader in this green revolution, where 5633 EVs alone were registered.

According to Transport Department Minister Sheela Kumari, Bihar is no longer just behind in adopting EVs, but is moving towards leading. Our goal is not just to change vehicles. We are trying to change our lifestyle. Bihar will soon be counted among the leading EV states of the country. He appealed to the citizens to become partners in the creation of pollution-free Bihar.

According to Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar, the target is that by 2028, 15 per cent of the vehicles purchased and registered in Bihar should be electric vehicles. Electric vehicles are being encouraged. The charging network is being expanded. The charging station scheme has been implemented which will make it possible to adopt EVs in villages.
