Bihar News: The officials on Thursday stated that traveling on the four-lane road between Bihar's Patna and Bakhtiyarpur on National Highway number 30 will become expensive from April 1. They further stated that the vehicles passing through this route will have to pay 3 to 3.5 per cent more toll tax than before at the Didarganj toll plaza.

They also stated that the residents living within the 20 km radius of this toll will have to pay Rs 350 monthly for the movement of non-commercial vehicles. They further stated that the decision was taken by the authorities to provide a boost to the ongoing maintenance works on the highways.

Apart from this, Patna Bakhtiyarpur toll plaza manager Prabhakar Singh on Thursday informed that the residents can also opt for a monthly pass by paying the amount at the toll plaza itself. He further stated that the decision to increase the toll rates was taken by the National Highways Authority of India and will be implemented from midnight of April 1.

Singh further informed that around 17 to 19 thousand big and small vehicles pass through this toll on a daily basis, adding that the number reaches around 20 thousand during the festivals and weddings. Apart from this, he further informed that all the vehicles passing through this toll have fast tags, and the toll charge is deducted from them.

Prabhakar Singh stated that all types of government vehicles, army vehicles, ambulances, hearse vehicles, police vehicles, postal department vehicles, etc., are allowed to cross the toll without paying tax. He also informed that the toll plaza provides twenty-four-hour ambulance service, a crane facility for removing accident vehicles, a drinking water facility, public toilets, and a first aid facility.

Besides, the railway officials on Thursday announced that two new special trains will operate from Gaya and other districts of Bihar in the upcoming days.
