In view of the upcoming Dussehra celebrations coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, all hospital OPD services in Patna will remain closed on the day. The health department has made extensive preparations to ensure smooth medical support during festivals such as Durga Puja, Ravan Vadh, and Dussehra.

Government hospitals, including PMCH, IGIMS, NMCH, Patna AIIMS, New Gardiner Road, and LNJP, have been instructed to provide 24-hour treatment. The district administration has also deployed doctors, healthcare workers, ambulances, and essential medicines to manage the expected large crowds and idol immersion events.

Considering the expected rush at Gandhi Maidan during the main Ravan Vadh event, the Civil Surgeon’s office has set up four temporary first-aid posts near Kargil Chowk, Gyan Bhawan, Gate Number 10, and Gate Number 5. Each post will have a bed, oxygen cylinders, stretchers, trolleys, and life-saving drugs to provide immediate assistance in emergencies.

Civil Surgeon Dr Avinash Kumar Singh confirmed that emergency services in government hospitals have been strengthened, and private hospitals have been asked to keep their staff and resources fully prepared during the puja and fairs.

IGIMS Medical Superintendent Dr Manish Mandal stated that while the OPD will remain operational on Navami, it will be closed on Dussehra, but emergency departments will continue to operate. He assured that patients requiring admission will not face any issues.
