A boat carrying school children in Bihar's Muzaffarpur district capsized this morning, as per news agency ANI. As many as 34 children were on board the watercraft when it turned turtle in Bagmati River. 

Teams of NDRF and SDRF rushed to the incident site. As per reports, ten children are said to be missing while 20 were rescued. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the District Magistrate has been directed to investigate the incident and the families affected will be provided assistance by the government. The mishap took place when Nitish was in Muzaffarpur to review the ongoing developmental projects in the district.

The school is located on the other side of the river, hence children going on the boat is an established practice in the area.
