Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Holidays: The Lok Sabha Elections, which are scheduled in seven phases, will commence on 19 April and conclude with the announcement of the results on 4 June 2024. Bank and other institutions will be closed in respective cities on the first day of elections. Some states have also declared polling day as a public or paid holiday for residents.
As per Media report, banks in Chennai, Jaipur, Kohima, Dehradun, Nagpur, Itanagar, and Shillong will remain closed on 19 April due to various elections including the Lok Sabha general elections 2024, Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections 2024 and one by-election to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from Vilavancode constituency in Kanyakumari district.

Announcements made by states
Uttarakhand- The Uttarakhand government has announced 19 April as a public holiday given polling day ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the country. This instruction was issued by the General Administration Department of Uttarakhand Government on Tuesday.
Tamil Nadu: The Tamil Nadu government has proclaimed April 19th a holiday for the general elections to all 39 Lok Sabha seats and the by-elections to the Vilavancode Assembly Constituency.
Nagaland: The Nagaland Home Department has announced that all state employees, including those from the government, private, and corporate sectors, will be given a holiday on Friday, April 19, 2024, which is the polling day. This decision aims to facilitate their participation in exercising their right to vote during the upcoming Lok Sabha general elections. This is as per Section 135B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
On April 20th, which is a third Saturday as well, banks will be closed in Tripura due to Garia Puja celebrations. The 2024 Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases: Phase 1- April 19th, Phase 2- April 26, Phase 3- May 7th, Phase 4- May 13th, Phase 5- May 20th, Phase 6- May 25th, Phase 7- June 1.
