IND vs AFG T20Is: India skipper Rohit Sharma regained his T20I captaincy as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan on Sunday.
Rohit, who has been out of T20I for more than a year, has been reappointed as India's T20I skipper ahead of this year's T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA. Rohit will lead India in the T20I format for the first time after the crushing 10-wicket defeat against England in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Adelaide, Australia.

In a recent Instagram post on Monday, Rohit shared a picture in a solid black t-shirt and blue hat with the caption, "In 2024 we mind our own rizzness."

India will start their preparations for the T20 World Cup 2024 in the T20I series against Afghanistan. It is the only T20I series that they will play before the showpiece event in the West Indies and the USA.

India will be without the services of all-rounder Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav due to respective injuries. The duo will return to action in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in March.
Ruturaj Gaikwad also missed the selection due to finger injury while Shreyas Iyer has been rested from the series. Sanju Samson returned for the Afghan T20Is after missing the five-match series against Australia in November last year.
Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj have also been rested to manage their workloads for the upcoming five-match home Tests against England.
