IND vs AUS 1st ODI: Australia captain Mitch Marsh won the toss and opted to bowl against India in their first ODI of the three-match series here at the Perth Stadium in Perth on Sunday.

After a seven-month break, the batting moguls Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma returned to the international stage, generating immense excitement among fans.

Shubman Gill's maiden ODI captaincy assignment comes with an intriguing flavour as he leads the team with two cricketing legends, Rohit and Kohli, playing under his leadership.

Australia have handed debut caps to Matt Renshaw and Mitch Owe, who are set to mark their first appearance in the 50-over format. In the Indian camp, Nitish Kumar Reddy received his ODI cap from Rohit Sharma.

Speaking at the time of toss, Marsh said, "We are going to bowl first. Looks like a pretty good wicket. Hopefully it's fast. It's always a huge honour to lead your country. Hope we get off to a good start. The morale is great. We have some good young players. Seven batters, one wicketkeeper and four bowlers."

India captain Shubman Gill said, "We would have bowled first as well. It's all about getting mentally ready. We are in a good mental place. The practice sessions help. We have a great combination. Nitish Reddy makes his debut. We are going with three fast bowlers and three all-rounders."
