India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah added another special achievement to his already impressive career during the first ODI against England at Edgbaston in Birmingham.

Bumrah became the first Indian cricketer to complete a rare bowling milestone, taking 150 wickets in ODIs, 200 wickets in Tests, and 100 wickets in T20Is.

Before the match, Bumrah had already taken 234 wickets in Test cricket and 121 wickets in T20 Internationals. He needed just one more ODI wicket to reach the 150-mark, and he achieved it by dismissing England captain Harry Brook.

The wicket came in the 14th over of England’s innings. Brook had just arrived at the crease when Bumrah produced a brilliant delivery. Starting from wide of the crease, the Indian pacer made it look like the ball would come back into the batter, but instead it moved away late.

Brook tried to play the shot but only managed an edge. Rohit Sharma completed a sharp catch at first slip, giving Bumrah his historic 150th ODI wicket.

Bumrah Joins Tim Southee And Shakib Al Hasan In Elite List

Bumrah is now only the third cricketer in the world to achieve this unique combination of milestones across all three formats.

New Zealand fast bowler Tim Southee and Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan are the only other players to reach 100-plus wickets in T20Is, 150-plus wickets in ODIs, and 200-plus wickets in Tests.

Southee has taken 164 T20I wickets, 221 ODI wickets, and 391 Test wickets, while Shakib has 149 T20I wickets, 317 ODI wickets, and 246 Test wickets.

Bumrah Returns To ODI Cricket In Style

Bumrah was playing his first ODI since the 2023 World Cup final against Australia in Ahmedabad. Due to workload management and injury concerns, India had carefully managed his appearances in the format.

With the next ODI World Cup just over a year away, India are looking to bring their premier fast bowler back into the ODI setup. His performance at Edgbaston showed why he remains one of the most dangerous bowlers in world cricket.

Despite being away from the format for a long time, Bumrah immediately made an impact with his accuracy, movement, and ability to create problems for top batters.

More Records Broken By Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah’s 150th ODI wicket also created another record. The dismissal of Harry Brook was his 31st ODI wicket in England, making him the first Indian bowler to take more than 30 ODI wickets on English soil.

He surpassed Ravindra Jadeja’s previous record of 30 wickets in England. Among Indian fast bowlers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar remains behind with 28 wickets.

Bumrah also became the second-fastest Indian pacer to reach 150 ODI wickets, achieving the milestone in just 90 matches. Only Mohammed Shami (80 matches) and Kuldeep Yadav (88 matches) have reached the mark faster for India.
