Virat Kohli and India head coach Gautam Gambhir became the talking point during the team's training session in Birmingham ahead of the opening ODI against England. According to multiple reports, the two were not seen interacting during the practice.

There is no indication of any disagreement between Kohli and Gambhir. However, several reports noted that while Gambhir spent a lot of time speaking with players and members of the support staff, he was not seen having a conversation with Kohli.

India's final training session before Tuesday's first ODI included the full squad. Captain Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Kohli and the bowling unit all took part in the preparations.

Kohli, who returns to the ODI side after missing the Afghanistan series because of a hamstring injury, spent a long time batting in the nets. After his batting session, he was seen having an extended discussion with batting coach Sitanshu Kotak.

Gambhir, meanwhile, remained actively involved with the rest of the squad. He spent time with Gill while examining the pitch and later had a detailed conversation with Rohit Sharma after the opener finished his batting session. The India head coach was also seen interacting with Kotak and other members of the coaching staff as the team completed its final preparations.

The practice session followed a normal routine, with players taking part in batting, bowling and fielding drills. Shreyas Iyer was the only specialist batter who did not bat in the nets.

Coming back to 1st ODI, England captain Harry Brook won the toss and opted to bat against India. Team India featured four seamers and two spinners, with the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Ishan Kishan and Kuldeep Yadav failing to cement their spots in the playing XI.
