IND vs ENG 2nd ODI: By impressing everyone with his brilliant comeback in the shortest format, India's star spinner Varun Chakravarthy received his debut ODI cap in the second match against England in Cuttack on Sunday. He was added to the squad at the last minute owing to his brilliant performances in T20Is.
Varun has become the 259th player to have played for India in ODIs and has become India's second oldest debutant in the 50-over format and has joined the elite list of wicket-keeper Farokh Engineer (36 years and 138 days). India's star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja gave Varun Chakravarthy his debut cap as he reminisced his brilliant journey from playing with a tennis ball to ODIs.
“Varun cap number 259. It's a special day for you and your family. From tennis ball cricket to T20 cricket, we all have seen your magic. Now it's time to do something special in this format, and we all are with you. Just you’re your 100%, good luck,” Jadeja was heard saying in the video posted by the BCCI.

“Feels very good because it's been a long journey from my 2021 T20 debut and I've got this breakthrough now and it's come after playing a lot of domestic, Vijay Hazare, so I will cherish it and value it,” said Varun after getting the cap.
