IND vs NZ 1st ODI: Arshdeep Singh has revealed that adapting to a bowling technique is important, and a lot depends on the opponent's batting approach. He highlighted that thinking beyond a batter is important in order to be competitive.
He isn't part of India's playing XI for the series against New Zealand on Sunday.
Arshdeep showed his bowling prowess as he took a five-fer while playing for Punjab against Sikkim in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2026.
Talking before the match, Arshdeep reacted to his brilliant performance at the start of this new year and said that he will try to repeat his heroics from last year. He also said that he tries to stay in the present and give his 100 percent across formats.
“Good start to the year; just trying to continue what I have been doing since last year and just enjoying the present," Arshdeep said.
“No such goals, to be honest. I just try to stay in the present and enjoy what’s in front of me, and just give it my all, whether it’s a red ball, pink ball, orange ball, or whatever ball it is, just enjoy," he revealed.

He also spoke about his goal and said that he wants to focus on the present.
“It’s mostly condition-based, and it also depends on how the batters are approaching you. If they’re trying to attack or something like that, then you tend to pull your length back a bit, and you just have to adapt as quickly as possible before the batters get used to what you’re trying to do. Nowadays, if you’re thinking ahead of the batters, then you’re in the game, so just try to adapt as quickly as possible," he concluded.
New Zealand will lock horns with India for a three-match ODI series and then 5 T20Is. The T20I series will help the teams fine-tune their preparation for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
