Australia vs India ODI Series 2025: Virat Kohli is all set and gearing up for action in the upcoming ODI series between India and Australia. The first of the three-match series is scheduled to be played at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday, October 19.

Virat has been out of cricketing action since the IPL 2025. However, his final appearance for India came in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand, having retired from the Test and T20I format. Amid heavy speculations regarding his ODI future, Virat along with other senior batter Rohit Sharma was picked in India's 15-member ODI squad and will now be playing under Shubman Gill's captaincy.

Ahead of the series opener, Virat's entertaining side was once again visible in Perth as he came up a hilarious act during India's training session.

While the Men in Blue were preparing for some fielding drills with head coach Gautam Gambhir and fielding coach T Dilip around, Virat shared a laugh with the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Axar Patel and, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel. Interestingly, the veteran batter seen mimicking someone in the viral video.

Apart from his batting brilliance, Virat is known for his hilarious acts and has been seen doing mimickry of his teammates and other personalities over the years. Meanwhile, he has been an incredible performer for India in the ODIs for more than a decade now. He was also the second-highest run-getter for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, having smashed a memorable century against Pakistan before playing a crucial knock of 84 runs against Australia in the semifinal.

The three-match series in Australia will be hugely important for Virat and Rohit considering their ODI future as they have already set their eyes on the World Cup 2027. However, they will need to remain consistent when it comes to the performance in the ODI matches and might have to play domestic cricket as well in order to get more game time ahead of the marquee tournament in 2027 which will be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

Amid heavy speculations, BCCI chief selector BCCI chief selector Ajit Agarkar came up with a big update on Virat and Rohit's future as he confirmed that the Australia series will not decide a final call senior batters' career.

"They are part of the squad at the moment for Australia. Like I said, they have been incredible players for a long time. And it’s probably not the forum to keep harping on individuals because you want to try and focus on the team and what the team wants to achieve. And in two years' time, we don't know what the situation is going to be. Why only them? It could be some younger player too," Agarkar said during the NDTV World Cup Summit 2025 on Friday.
