Dewald Brevis, the 22-year-old South African batting sensation, has fondly recalled his stint with Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, revealing that legendary wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni's door was always open to his teammates for advice.
In a conversation with former South Africa batter AB de Villiers, Brevis revealed that Dhoni's door was always open to his teammates, praising Dhoni's approachability.
“I always tell people it was an amazing experience...The one thing I can say about MS is how humble he is as a person—that really stood out for me. Off the field, the time he gives to players and people is special," Brevis said.
"His door is always open. If he’s sleeping, that’s the only time it’s closed. I’ve often found myself in his room, just sitting there, chatting about cricket or his hobbies. Everyone knows what he does on the field and at training, but off the field he’s just as inspiring. I really enjoyed my time there,” he added.
Brevis' six-match outing with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) produced 225 runs at an average of 37.50 and a strike rate of 180.
Brevis described his stint with Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025, describing it as an "incredible" experience.
“I’ll always remember like, whenever I tell people it’s amazing. I had amazing times, my four years [in IPL]. It was incredible," Brevis told De Villiers.
Brevis revealed that Dhoni's door was always open to his teammates, stating that the legendary India batter's room was a place where teammates discussed cricket, hobbies, or life in general.
“And I had to go through all of the journey like it’s been beautiful, and the one thing that I can just say from MS [Dhoni] is his humbleness and who he is as a person that stood out for me. How he is basically off the field, the time he has for players, for people," Brevis added.
