After being put into bat first, Calicut were struggling at 76/4 in the 13th over when Salman arrived at the crease. While he kept things going in the middle overs to take the team score to 115 by the 118th over. He ended up accelerating in one of the most exciting ways to help his side reach a challenging total.
This extraordinary innings by Salman will be remembered as one of the most remarkable in the history of the Kerala Cricket League. However, the star player is expected to leave the KCL to join the South Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy, and is expected to continue his magnificent form in the elite domestic competition.
Nizar was called in for the Chennai Super Kings trial during IPL 2025 but was not picked. However, with the way he is batting, IPL 2026 looks well and truly a main target for him to unfold a new chapter in his cricketing career.
Chasing the target, Trivandrum Royals were bowled out for just 173 runs in 19.3 overs, with Sanjeev Satheresan (34) being their top run-getter. For Calicut, Akhil Scaria was the pick of the bowlers as he took three wickets, whereas Ibnul Afthab and Harikrishnan MU found two scalps each.
On the back of four wins and eight points, Calicut stand second in the KCL 2025 standings after eight matches. They will face Aries Kollam Sailors in their next match at the same venue on Monday, September 1.
