GT vs RR IPL 2026 Qualifier 2: Rajasthan Royals star opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has carved his name into history as he blazed past the 700-run mark, becoming the first uncapped player to achieve this milestone during a single IPL season. Originating from Bihar, the youngster needed only 20 runs in the ongoing match against the Gujarat Titans to seize the record, which he clinched with a boundary off Kagiso Rabada's over in Mullanpur.

Two uncapped batters have powered their way past 600 runs in a single IPL season, but Sooryavanshi surged ahead as the first to smash more than 700 runs.

Shaun Marsh was the first uncapped player in IPL history to score 600 runs in a single season. The left-handed batter from Australia achieved the feat while playing for Punjab Kings in the inaugural 2008 IPL season.

His record was later matched by Yashasvi Jaiswal in IPL 2023. The left-handed batter from Mumbai scored 626 runs in 14 matches for Rajasthan Royals that season.

Vaibhav, who is 15 years and 63 days old, is the youngest batter in IPL history to score 700 runs in a single season of the Indian Premier League. Before Sooryavanshi, the record for being the youngest batter to reach the 700-run mark in an IPL season was held by B Sai Sudharsan.

The left-handed opening batter from Tamil Nadu was 23 years and 227 days old when he completed 700 runs for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025.

One change for Titans

For the IPL 2026 Qualifier 2, Gujarat Titans have made one change to their playing XI, with R Sai Kishore replacing Kulwant Khejroliya. The 34-year-old Khejroliya played for GT in Qualifier 1 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Dharamsala on Tuesday (May 26), but endured a tough outing. He conceded 31 runs in his two overs and failed to pick up a wicket.
