India’s young opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is currently in Zimbabwe with the Shreyas Iyer-led squad ahead of the upcoming three-match T20I series, which begins on July 23.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently shared a video from India’s training session in Zimbabwe. The clip showed several players, including Abhishek Sharma and Mayank Yadav, putting in the hard yards ahead of the series.

One moment that caught everyone’s attention was Vaibhav Sooryavanshi rolling his arm over in the nets. The youngster, who recently made his T20I debut during the five-match series against England, was seen trying his hand at bowling. The clip quickly went viral across social media.

India’s recent T20I struggles

India are going through a transition phase after winning the 2026 T20 World Cup. Following the tournament, the BCCI appointed Shreyas Iyer as the new T20I captain, replacing Suryakumar Yadav.

However, the team has struggled in its last two T20I assignments. India suffered a 2-0 series defeat to Ireland, marking Ireland’s first-ever international series win over the Men in Blue. That was followed by a disappointing 4-0 loss to England in a five-match series, with the opening match being washed out due to rain.

Varun Chakravarthy ruled out of Zimbabwe series

Notably, India mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe after suffering a hamstring injury in the third T20I against England. The BCCI announced Ravi Bishnoi as his replacement.
