WPL 2026: UP Warriorz skipper Meg Lanning took a sly dig at her ex-teammate Jemimah Rodrigues, who will also lead Delhi Capitals from the front this season, at a promotional event where all the 5 WPL skippers were present. This hilarious exchange happened in front of RCB captain Smriti Mandhana, Mumbai Indians skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, and the Gujarat Giants captain Ashleigh Gardner. All the skippers were sitting at a table where they were talking to the hosts.

In a truth-or-dare session, Lanning was asked to sledge Jemimah. She gladly accepted this, and it led to a hilarious exchange.

It should be noted here that Jemimah had played under Lanning for 3 years, as both of them played for the Delhi Capitals. The franchise had to let go of Lanning and was later roped in by UP Warriorz and was also made their captain.

Lanning took a dig at Jemimah and said, "So now you know how your fielders feel when they don't listen to you and keep dancing on the field."

She was talking about Jemimah's on-field presence when both of them played together. Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana were laughing as all the skippers had a fun time.

Jemimah also talked about what she learnt from Lanning, who helped Delhi Capitals reach three consecutive summit clashes and will try to bank on that experience as she will lead the team from the front.

"Yeah, actually, last year I did pick her brains a little on captaincy. I did speak to her about how she dealt with it at a very young age and what is important for captaincy. So she has passed on a lot of her experience, Jemimah was heard as saying at the event.

"And I'm really looking forward to this season. Meg has been one of the greatest captains I've ever played under. What she's done for DC has been phenomenal, and I couldn't ask for a better person to learn from," she added.

Very soon, this banter will turn to battle as the fourth season of this tournament is all set to begin.

Reigning champions Mumbai Indians are all set to face Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the first match at DY Patil Stadium on Friday.
