A woman was allegedly poisoned to death by her husband and in-laws in Faridabad's Ladhauli village, reportedly because she had not conceived a child after 12 years of marriage. The Sadar police have registered a case of dowry death against the husband, brother-in-law, and mother-in-law.
The victim's father, Hardayal, a resident of Bagpur Khadar village in Palwal, filed the complaint. He stated that his daughter, Pooja, was married to Bharat of Ladhauli village 12 years ago. According to Hardayal, because the couple remained childless, Pooja was frequently beaten by her husband and his family, who also harassed her for dowry.
Hardayal recounted that he visited his daughter's home last Friday, where he witnessed her husband and in-laws assaulting her. On Monday, the family allegedly fed her a poisonous substance. Pooja was rushed to a private hospital in Uncha village in critical condition, where she later died during treatment.
Investigating Officer Vinod Kumar Yadav confirmed that a case has been registered based on the father's complaint. A post-mortem was conducted at Badshah Khan Hospital late on Monday night, and the body was subsequently handed over to Pooja's paternal family. Her last rites were performed in her home village of Bagpur. The officer added that further action will be taken based on the findings of the post-mortem report.
