Positioned in the Durg district of the Central region in Chhattisgarh, Ahiwara is classified as a semi-urban area.
The constituency comprises a total of 2,20,287 registered voters, consisting of 1,10,552 male voters and 1,09,719 female voters. This year, Chhattisgarh will witness a direct competition between the incumbent Congress party and its main rival, the BJP. The BJP is relying on the strong popularity of Prime Minister Modi and the concept of a "double-engine government," a phrase often emphasised by the party during state Assembly election campaigns. On the other hand, the Congress has highlighted the issue of corruption as a central theme leading up to the Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023.
Ahiwara Assembly Election 2023:
On August 17, the BJP announced its first list of 21 contenders for the impending Chhattisgarh Assembly elections. Nevertheless, the nominee for the Ahiwara constituency has not been disclosed yet. Similarly, the Congress party is still in the process of unveiling its lineup of candidates for the Chhattisgarh elections.
Chhattisgarh BJP president, Arun Sao, showing optimism about the party's chances in the forthcoming assembly elections, said, "In the last five years, Bhupesh Baghel-led government has turned Chhattisgarh into a hub of crime and corruption. It cheated and looted all sections of the state and the development work is at a standstill. The people of Chhattisgarh have understood that the future of the state is safe in the hands of the BJP... Definitely, the lotus will bloom in Chhattisgarh in November."
