Vaishali Nagar Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023: Vaishali Nagar constitutes a state Assembly/Vidhan Sabha constituency within Chhattisgarh and is a part of the Durg Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency. Located in Durg district and the Central region of Chhattisgarh, Vaishali Nagar is classified as an urban constituency.

The constituency comprises a total of 2,22,899 registered voters, consisting of 1,13,166 male and 1,09,709 female voters. During the 2018 Chhattisgarh elections, Vaishali Nagar witnessed a voter turnout of 65.5 per cent. In 2013, the turnout stood at 59.91 per cent, while in 2008, it was recorded as 61.88 per cent.

This year, Chhattisgarh will witness a direct competition between the incumbent Congress party and its main rival, the BJP. The BJP is relying on the strong popularity of Prime Minister Modi and the concept of a "double-engine government," a phrase often emphasised by the party during state Assembly election campaigns. On the other hand, the Congress has highlighted the issue of corruption as a central theme leading up to the Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023.

Vaishali Nagar Assembly Election 2023:

The BJP revealed its first roster of 21 candidates for the upcoming Chhattisgarh state Assembly elections on August 17. However, the candidate for the Vaishali Nagar constituency has not been revealed so far. Likewise, the Congress party is yet to announce its list of candidates for the Chhattisgarh elections.

The preliminary roster of 21 nominees was unveiled a day subsequent to the meeting of the BJP central committee in New Delhi, where discussions regarding potential candidates took place. Apart from BJP President J P Nadda, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP Vice-President Raman Singh, the former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, and State BJP President Arun Sao were also in attendance.

Vaishali Nagar Assembly Election 2018:

During the 2018 elections, Vidya Ratan Bhasin from the BJP secured victory in the constituency, surpassing Badruddin Qureshi of the Congress by a margin of 18,080 votes.

Vaishali Nagar Assembly Election 2013:

During the 2013 elections, Vidyaratan Bhasin from the BJP emerged victorious with a lead of 24,448 votes, constituting 17.47 per cent of the total votes. Vidyaratan Bhasin garnered the support of 51.89 per cent of the overall votes cast.
