This year, Chhattisgarh is poised to witness a direct contest between the reigning Congress party and its primary adversary, the BJP. The BJP is banking on the considerable popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the idea of a "double-engine government," a term frequently emphasised by the party during state Assembly election campaigns. Conversely, the Congress has placed a spotlight on the subject of corruption as a pivotal focal point in the run-up to the Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023.
Bemetara Assembly Election 2023:
The BJP revealed its initial roster of 21 candidates for the upcoming Chhattisgarh Assembly elections on August 17. However, the candidate for the Bemetara constituency remains undisclosed at this point. In a similar vein, the Congress party is currently in the midst of unveiling its roster of candidates for the Chhattisgarh elections.
Chhattisgarh BJP president, Arun Sao, showing optimism about the party's chances in the forthcoming assembly elections, has said, "In the last five years, Bhupesh Baghel-led government has turned Chhattisgarh into a hub of crime and corruption. It cheated and looted all sections of the state and the development work is at a standstill. The people of Chhattisgarh have understood that the future of the state is safe in the hands of the BJP... Definitely, the lotus will bloom in Chhattisgarh in November."
