Kondagaon Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023: Kondagaon represents an electoral constituency in the Chhattisgarh State Assembly/Vidhan Sabha and is included in the Bastar (ST) Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency. Located within the Kondagaon district of the South region in Chhattisgarh, Kondagaon is designated as a rural constituency.

The constituency comprises a sum of 164,741 registered voters, comprising 80,681 male voters and 84,053 female voters. During the Chhattisgarh elections of 2018, the voter participation in Kondagaon reached 83.48 per cent. This turnout was slightly higher in 2013 at 84.63 per cent, while it was 79.19 per cent in 2008.

This year, Chhattisgarh is poised to witness a direct contest between the reigning Congress party and its primary adversary, the BJP. The BJP is banking on the considerable popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the idea of a "double-engine government," a term frequently emphasised by the party during state Assembly election campaigns. Conversely, the Congress has placed a spotlight on the subject of corruption as a pivotal focal point in the run-up to the Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023.

Kondagaon Assembly Election 2023:

The BJP revealed its initial roster of 21 candidates for the upcoming Chhattisgarh Assembly elections on August 17. However, the candidate for the Kondagaon constituency remains undisclosed at this point. In a similar vein, the Congress party is currently in the midst of unveiling its roster of candidates for the Chhattisgarh elections.

Chhattisgarh BJP president, Arun Sao, showing optimism about the party's chances in the forthcoming assembly elections, has said, "In the last five years, Bhupesh Baghel-led government has turned Chhattisgarh into a hub of crime and corruption. It cheated and looted all sections of the state and the development work is at a standstill. The people of Chhattisgarh have understood that the future of the state is safe in the hands of the BJP... Definitely, the lotus will bloom in Chhattisgarh in November."

Kondagaon Assembly Election 2018:

In the 2018 elections, Mohan Markam from the Congress secured victory in the constituency, prevailing over Lata Usendi from the BJP by a margin of 1,796 votes.

Kondagaon Assembly Election 2013:

In 2013, Mohan Markam from the Congress emerged victorious in the constituency with a lead of 5,135 votes (equivalent to 4.09 per cent of the total votes). Mohan Markam secured 43.24 per cent of the overall votes cast.
