Kawardha Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023: Kawardha is a constituency in the Chhattisgarh state legislature (Vidhan Sabha/Assembly) and is within the Rajnandgaon Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency. Kawardha is situated in the Kabirdham district within the central region of Chhattisgarh. This constituency is classified as a rural seat.

Kawardha has a total of 2,91,790 eligible voters, consisting of 1,45,307 male voters and 1,46,481 female voters. During the 2018 Chhattisgarh elections, Kawardha witnessed a voter turnout of 82.03 per cent. In the 2013 elections, the turnout was 81.61 per cent, and in 2008, it stood at 74.95 per cent.

This year, Chhattisgarh is gearing up for a head-to-head competition between the incumbent Congress and its main rival, the BJP. The BJP is relying on the significant popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the concept of a "double-engine government," a term frequently emphasised by the party during state Assembly election campaigns. In contrast, the Congress is highlighting the issue of corruption as a central focus in the lead-up to the Chhattisgarh Assembly Elections 2023.

Kawardha Assembly Election 2023:

The BJP unveiled its initial roster of 21 candidates for the upcoming Chhattisgarh Assembly elections on August 17. However, the party has not yet revealed the candidate for the Kawardha constituency. In a similar vein, the Congress is currently in the process of announcing its list of candidates for the Chhattisgarh elections.

Arun Sao, the Chhattisgarh BJP president, expressed confidence in the party's prospects in the upcoming assembly elections, stating, "In the last five years, Bhupesh Baghel-led government has turned Chhattisgarh into a hub of crime and corruption. It cheated and looted all sections of the state and the development work is at a standstill. The people of Chhattisgarh have understood that the future of the state is safe in the hands of the BJP... Definitely, the lotus will bloom in Chhattisgarh in November."

Kawardha Assembly Election 2018:

In 2018, Akbar Bhai of the Congress emerged victorious in the seat by defeating Ashok Sahu of the BJP with a margin of 59,284 votes.

Kawardha Assembly Election 2013:

In 2013, Ashok Sahu from the BJP emerged victorious in Kawardha, securing the seat with a narrow margin of 2,558 votes (1.16 per cent). Ashok Sahu garnered 42.61 per cent of the total votes cast.
