Anne Hathaway, who is the face of Versace's Icon campaign, wore a stunning white gown from the brand at the Met Gala. The 40-year-old actress looked sexy and glamorous in the plunging dress, which was held together by gold safety pins. The dress had an extremely low cut that showed off her cleavage and a thigh-high slit which added to the allure. The Devil Wears Prada actress so wore fingerless opera gloves to complete the look. Moreover, she draped a jacket over her arms in some instances.

However, Anne Hathaway's outfit at the Met Gala was attention-grabbing as it was reminiscent of the iconic black safety pin Versace dress worn by Liz Hurley in 1994!

Anne Hathaway wore a tweed ensemble, which she described as a "marriage between Versace and Chanel." During an interview with Vogue on the red carpet, the 38-year-old actress credited Donatella Versace and her stylist Erin Walsh for the creation of the outfit.

Anne revealed that she just followed Donatella's sketch for the outfit and expressed her gratitude to her amazing team, particularly her stylist, who she said did most of the collaboration work. Anne acknowledged that she was just a "lucky girl."

Liz Hurley had worn the original version of the dress to the premiere of Four Weddings and a Funeral in 1994. The dress was first modelled by Helena Christensen during Versace's Spring/Summer 1994 runway show.

At Met Gala 2023, Hathaway wore Bulgari jewellery, including a luxurious choker that went well with the gown's gold and pearl hardware. She paired the outfit with satin ivory platform heels and had her rich brunette hair styled in a voluminous half-up/half-down look. Her makeup was soft and subtle, using pink tones to enhance her cheeks and lips.

On Monday evening, Met Gala 2023 took place at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and a host of celebrities from Kim Kardashian to Priyanka Chopra attended the annual fundraising event.

The tradition of ascending the grand staircase into the exclusive party has been in place since 1948. The event is held on the first Monday of May and starts at 6:30 PM EST every year.

The theme for this year's Met Gala was Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, which pays tribute to the late German designer who served as the creative director for Chanel for many years. Lagerfeld passed away in 2019 at the age of 85.

Lagerfeld's beloved cat, Choupette, was invited to the event. However, the decision to honour Lagerfeld was met with controversy, given his history of making offensive comments over the years, including criticism of the #MeToo movement and opposition to same-sex marriage.
