In a heartfelt conversation shared on Bangtan TV, BTS leader Kim Namjoon (RM) and fellow member Jimin (affectionately the duo is called 'MiniMoni') reflected on the group's journey, their military enlistment, and the personal struggles they’ve faced along the way. The video provided fans with an intimate glimpse into the pressures and burdens that the pop supergroup's leader Kim Namjoon has carried for over a decade.
Namjoon revealed that while working on his new album, 'Right Place, Wrong Person', he confronted many emotions and experiences that most people might never face. He shared, "I took everything out from there. My stories. I just said everything I wanted to." This album became a diary for him, a place where he could pour out his thoughts and feelings.
Jimin praised the album, acknowledging the difficult time Namjoon endured. He said, "When I heard the album, it felt like a diary. He put all of his feelings into it." Jimin recognized that Namjoon had been struggling, which made the album even more personal and poignant.
Reflecting on his role as BTS’s leader, Namjoon expressed the immense pressure he has felt. "In our team, I'm the one who says all the right things, the nice things. I step up to represent the team. That's what I always do, and people expect me to make speeches and do interviews," he said. Despite his public persona, Namjoon admitted, "But actually, I'm just an unimportant 29-year-old living in Korea."
Namjoon also spoke about the looming issue of military enlistment, which has been a topic of much discussion and speculation. He shared that BTS went through a long, difficult time due to the enlistment issue. "We heard so much talk about it. Even at a bar, people would discuss it without knowing I was there," he recalled. This constant scrutiny added to the weight he was already carrying.
Originally, Namjoon planned to enlist alongside Jhope (Hobi), but life took a different turn, allowing him to work on his album instead. "While working on this album, so many things happened to me. Things that most people wouldn't experience in their lives," he said, alluding to the unique and often intense experiences of being in the spotlight.
There was a moment when Namjoon considered distancing himself from BTS. He shared, "I thought then I should be apart from the members for a while. Just physically apart, not mentally." This decision was driven by his need to see himself clearly, separate from the group.

NAMJOON: We went through a long difficult time because of our military enlistment issue. There was a lot of talk about it. Even when I'd be at a bar people at the next table would be talking about it without knowing I was there#MiniMoniMusic #RM #JIMIN

Towards the end of the video, Namjoon and Jimin discussed the songs on the new album and what the future holds for BTS. Jimin noted that Namjoon seemed to be more at ease after releasing 'Right Place, Wrong Person', though Namjoon agreed that the pressure never truly lifted. They also touched on BTS’s return in 2025, with Jimin expressing concerns about Namjoon feeling the team's burden again. Namjoon candidly replied that he wasn’t sure if he could handle it.
In a delightful twist, Namjoon teased the possibility of sub-units within BTS, mentioning potential combinations like Jungkook and V, Jimin and RM, Suga and Jin, and Jhope with RM. This hint left fans excited about future projects and collaborations within the group.
