BTS continues to make waves globally as members RM and V secure prestigious nominations at the UK Music Video Awards 2024. With three nods for his latest music video LOST!, RM has now become the most-nominated Kpop soloist in the history of the UKMVAs. Meanwhile, V and BLACKPINK’s Lisa have also joined the list of nominees, further highlighting the global influence of Kpop artists.

On September 26, the UK Music Video Awards revealed this year’s nominees and BTS’ leader RM earned three nominations in key categories. His music video for LOST!—the title track of his second solo album Right Place, Wrong Person—has been nominated for Best Alternative Music Video International, Best Production Design in a Video and Best Visual Effects in a Video. This achievement marks RM as the Kpop artist with the most nominations at the UKMVAs, reflecting his artistry and creativity as a soloist.

V, RM’s bandmate, also scored a nomination at the awards for his 2024 digital single FRI(END)S. The track, known for its lyrical depth and visual storytelling, has been recognized in the Best Pop Video International category. FRI(END)S delves into themes of love, friendship and solitude, with the music video praised for its inclusive narrative and emotional resonance. This nomination places V among the few Kpop soloists to be recognized at the UKMVAs, following Jungkook’s 2023 nomination for Seven.

Adding to the list of Kpop stars making a mark at the UKMVAs, BLACKPINK’s Lisa has also been nominated in the Best Pop Video International category for her hit track Rockstar. Released in June 2024, the song has captivated fans worldwide with its energetic beats and powerful visuals. The nomination further solidifies Lisa’s status as a global pop icon.

The UK Music Video Awards, which recognize excellence in music videos from around the world, are not based on public votes but are judged by a panel of industry professionals. The 2024 ceremony is scheduled to take place in London on October 24, where the winners will be announced.

RM’s LOST! was released on May 24, 2024, as part of his album Right Place, Wrong Person. The music video, lauded for its experimental visuals, delves into RM’s personal struggles with the commercial music world and explores themes of confusion and self-discovery. The track’s lyrical depth, combined with stunning visual effects, makes it a standout piece of work.

V’s FRI(END)S, released earlier in March, received attention for its introspective lyrics and visually engaging music video. Through this track, V explores complex emotions surrounding human connections, and the song has been appreciated for its universal appeal.

BLACKPINK’s Lisa, who has consistently made headlines with her solo projects, once again captured the spotlight with Rockstar.
