Corona Papers OTT Release Date: When And Where To Watch Priyadarshan’s Malayalam Thriller Film

The makers of the Malayalam action-thriller film Corona Papers have locked its OTT release date. The film is directed by Priyadarshan and released theatrically April 6, 2023.

According to reports, Corona Papers will be making its digital debut this week. The film will be released on OTT giant Disney+ Hotstar and will begin streaming from May 5, 2023.

The cast of Corona Papers include Gayaythri Shankar, Shane Nigam, Siddique, Sandhya Shetty, PP Kunhikrishnan, Maniyanpilla Raju, Jean Paul Lal, Sree Dhanya, Vijileesh, Biju Pappan, Sreekanth.

The film received mixed response at the box-office. Corona Papers collected roughly Rs 0.46 crore in India.

Corona Papers Plot

The plot of Corona Papers is based on the Japanese neo-noir film, Akira Kurosawa's Stray Dog. The thriller film revolves around a rookie police officer whose gun gets stolen on a bus. As the police force investigates the matter, the gun is used in a bank robbery leading to the death of an employee.

Speaking about the film in an interview with Om Manorama, director Priyadarshan said that he is still learning. “This is a crime thriller set during the Covid times. It is a small film, and we are not making any tall claims. It is a film I haven’t attempted before. There is no Mohanlal or MG Sreekumar songs or humour. I wrote and produced it. So even if it is a flop or a hit, I don’t need to be accountable to anyone,” the filmmaker said.

“Some directors will have their signatures on their films. My films don’t have that. I am someone who makes all kinds of films. With the inclusion of new technicians and stars, this film became different. Instead of finding faults with everything the new generation is doing, I think you should learn from them. I am still learning,” Priyadarshan said.
